Job Title: Data Analyst in Enrollment Management

Staff Bio:

Tell us what brought you to UNT and what you do here:
came to UNT 9 years ago. I started in the Division of Equity and Diversity as an Assistant Director for Research and Assessment. After 2 years I transitioned into the Office of Institutional Research, a department I had longed to work for even before coming to UNT. In short, I am a data person. I enjoy all things data-related. I especially enjoy helping the campus community answer critical questions about our students, faculty, and staff and building other people's confidence in using data in their everyday work. I begin a new position on April 1st as a Data Scientist, where I hope to use my statistical knowledge to augment my work here at UNT.

What do you enjoy most about working at UNT?
I enjoy the people at UNT the most. Being from California, I did not have a support system when I arrived in Texas. That quickly changed as I met people on campus. The campus is beautiful and I can't wait to see my people again.

What are your favorite hobbies?
As a mother who works full-time and is about to wrap up her Ph.D., I don't have time for many hobbies! However, attending concerts and traveling are two things I love to do and miss tremendously. I'm looking forward to filling my upcoming free time with new and interesting art hobbies.

What is one life experience you have had that no one at work knows about?
Shortly before moving to Texas, I almost had the opportunity to move to Grenoble, France. I worked on a research project with the Department of Defense, West Point, and various international partners surveying soldiers returning from Iraq and Afghanistan. We were going to replicate the US study in France. Unfortunately, the grant funding fell through.

Where did you grow up and where else have you lived?
I grew up in Southern California, specifically Rancho Cucamonga. Yep, it is a real place. It was at the base of mountains, which I miss very much.
