Tell us what brought you to UNT and what you do here.
I came to Texas, and UNT, after working 10 years for the State of Colorado. I was excited about working in higher education and seeing students reach their full potential and move into the future. I am the Administrative Coordinator for Computer Science and Engineering, in the College of Engineering. I provide administrative support to faculty and students in the department, including assisting with scheduling or registration issues, grade appeals, grad admissions, and milestone tracking, as well as working with faculty for curriculum changes, accredidation efforts, data collection, and purchasing.
What do you enjoy most about working at UNT?
The thing I enjoy most about working at UNT is the students! Hands down, the students! I have met some amazing and bright people from all over the world. Assisting them as they navigate their college experience, and seeing them attain their goals is one of the greatest joys in my life and I value the unique friendships I've made in my time here.
What are your favorite hobbies?
I am a proud pet parent, so spending time with my 4 dogs and 2 cats is always my favorite thing to do. Since they love nothing more than to plop on my lap and snooze, I can combine my other favorite hobby, reading, and I get the best of both worlds! An adventure on the pages and my furry companions snuggled up next to me - that's my version of heaven!
What is one life experience you have had that no one at work knows about?
I answered switchboards when I started working with the State of Colorado and I took a call one day from an employee who was planning to commit suicide. I stayed on the line with him and worked with Human Resources to find his location and alert authorities in his city to get him some help. That experience was probably the first emergency I had dealt with to that point in my life and I learned a lot from that experience.
Where did you grow up and where else have you lived?
I grew up in a small mountain town in Colorado and it was the only place I had lived before we moved to Texas! Now Texas is home, and the only thing I miss about Colorado is the mountains!
