Tell us what brought you to UNT and what you do here.
I started at UNT as a full-time staff member in 2017 working in International Affairs, although I had my first part-time position with UNT in 2005. When I applied to work at UNT full-time, I was working on a MS and in the process of moving back to Denton from living abroad, in Brazil, and wanted the chance to use my experience to contribute to the UNT community and student body. Over the time I have been at UNT I have had a variety of positions; in 2020 I had the opportunity to start working with New College as a Marketing Specialist and I thoroughly enjoy it.
What do you enjoy most about working at UNT?
I think the thing I enjoy most about working at UNT is collaboration. This is a unique work environment where I have the opportunity to work with a variety of people, with unique skills and backgrounds, and learn from experts while getting work done. While there are certainly challenges, getting the chance to solve problems collaboratively and creatively makes coming to work something to look forward to.
What are your favorite hobbies?
My favorite hobbies are playing with my kids, gardening, learning about new technology, practicing Portuguese, and trying to cook new things. I have used the extra time home over the last year to take my baking to a new level. I am always looking for new things to learn about and new skills to build, so my hobbies change some over time.
What is one life experience you have had that no one at work knows about?
I have been from the Atlantic coast to the Pacific coast (not at one time) in South America, by visiting Brazil, Paraguay, and Chile.
Where did you grow up and where else have you lived?
My family moved to Texas when I was young and I grew up in Krum. I have had the chance to live abroad, in ParanĂ¡ Brazil, and it was an incredible experience. I am happy to be back in Denton, but I am curious to see where else life will take me.
